Ground Improvement Process - Multipole Uglie
Ground Improvement consists of closely spaced MultiPole Uglie piles that reinforce in-situ soils against the seismic induced strains that trigger liquefaction.
Timber pole ground improvement is included in MBIE Guidance April 2015 as a Type G5 ground improvement method.
Uglie poles are debarked rather than peeled. This leaves a rougher finish, thus maximizing their interaction or friction with surrounding soils. Debarking retains most of the wood’s natural strength. The rough surface is also ideal for Ground Improvement as it allows the pole to interact better with the surrounding soil.
